Government has been interfering in the health market since WWII when a wage freeze was put into effect forcing companies to offer benefits instead of higher wagers to attract workers.
They've been tweaking it for decades.
If they hadn't tied health insurance to employment it would have evolved differently. I don't know whether for good or worse but Obamacare was the pinnacle of government interference and indifference.
I don't know what the answer is but I do know that I have never known anything that the government has gotten involved with that made it better.
But this is where we are.

No one will be happy with whatever they come up with.
We've tried government interference for a long time, maybe it's time to try something different?
